Lynne Reid Banks
Lynne Reid Banks has written numerous books for both children and adults. She is best known for the children's novel The Indian in the Cupboard, which has sold over 10 million copies and was made into a film.
Banks an only child was born in London in 1929. During World War II she evacuated to Canada but returned to London when the war was over. Before her writing career Banks was an actress and was one of the first women to work as a television journalist in Britain. In 1962 Banks emigrated to Israel and married Chaim Stephenson. They had three sons and returned to England in 1971. Banks currently lives in Dorset with her husband.
